How Our Studio Started
A small pottery studio in Vaajakoski, Finland.
This is where the ideas behind Siiramics come to life. My studio is located in the historic Tikkutehdas premises in Vaajakoski, Jyväskylä.
Most of my pieces begin on the pottery wheel, but I also love combining wheel throwing with hand-building techniques. From shaping the clay to adding the tiniest details, every step is done with care.
I draw a lot of inspiration from Finnish nature and the world around me — especially its fluffy, scaly and feathery inhabitants. Textures, little illustrations and unexpected details are often what give a piece its personality.
From clay to creation
Every piece goes through many stages before it reaches its new home — shaping, drying, glazing and firing. The process takes time, but that's part of what makes handmade ceramics special.
